That's the way that my fa...Input before output. That's the way that my favorite language learning blog puts it. You have to listen to Japanese before you can speak it. You have to own and labor over books before you can expect to become literate. I've been reading all about that in the context of learning Japanese, and it makes so much sense, now that you point it out, that it should apply to other areas, too!
