A Little Off Topic Today....

Ten years ago this morning, I got the call from dad saying mom was passing.  We were anticipating that day as she had been under hospice care for several months, but the finality of it all was surreal.  Ten years ago my mom flew from her earthly life and yet as I type this, it's still so raw, as if today were the day.  A mother is always a mother.

Five years ago, shortly after starting this blog, I wrote A Day of Remembrance.  Today, I was planning a different post.  One about a book, keeping on with the theme of home educating, but the words weren't coming.  I felt very restless.  I started praying and the words Thy will be done kept running through my head over and over again.  Then I realized, it was not the post meant for today.

Instead, I need to tell you to go to your mother.  Call her, hug her, pray for her and may you be blessed.  My mother has no more pain and suffering.  Her body has been made new and for that I am thankful.  I still miss her terribly none the less. Today, I have the privilege of taking my maternal grandmother to an appointment. We will spend the afternoon together.  Loss makes us stronger in our other relationships if we only let it.

Forgive me for going a bit off topic today. I will come back to home educating soon.  For now, I am thanking God for the gorgeous sunrise here on Drywood Creek and the unseasonable warm temperatures.  I will hug and love on my children a little harder today.  We will reminisce.  God is good.  Thy will be done...His will, not mine.

  1. Thanking Him and praising Him in the midst of our heartache and grief not only glorifies Him, but brings us so much peace! God bless you, Melissa. Big hugs and prayers for you. Love,
