“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” -Ephesians 2:8,9

The God, The Bad, And The Grace Of God by Jep & Jessica Robertson....
I recently finished reading The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God: What Honesty and Pain Taught us about Faith, Family, and Forgiveness by Jep & Jessica Robertson. I normally don't follow celebrities. I'm not on Facebook and we only have antenna TV. However, our kids have had an insatiable interest in Duck Dynasty lately so when I saw the book on the "New Biography" shelf of our local library, I thought I would check it out.
The Good, the Bad... is the story of Jep and his wife Jessica's childhood, courtship, and marriage. It is written from each of their altering viewpoints. Throughout, it's clear to see the hand of God in their relationship. They are both devout Christians and freely admit their brokenness. In the book, they recall living through hardships created by poor choices including Jessica's one year marriage and divorce to a youth pastor and Jep's addiction to alcohol, drugs, and porn. Both Jep and Jess are adamant about living their day to day through the grace of God. They proclaim their commitment to one another and their families.
The Robertson's book is a 228 page easy read. I finished it in approx. 3-4 days. There is an eight page color photo section near the rear that puts faces with the stories and events. There is also a Q&A section in the back with questions commonly asked of the Robertsons.
I actually enjoyed reading The Good, the Bad... and was moved by their candid narrative. Both Jep and Jess claim the entire Robertson clan, as seen on Duck Dynasty, is "the same on television as we are in person". Our kids enjoy watching season episode re-runs borrowed from the library.
